Operating with firmwares#

In this guide we will go through, how to use firmware features on Fx-Editor.

Note

Used versions: * Fx-Editor 2.0.6.0

Importing firmware to Fx-Editor#

Note

This example is for IMX6 (FX-3000-X) firmwares.

Firmware versions can be added to Fx-Editor programdata. Then those versions is able to use on any projects.

Step by step guide

  1. Download the selected version from support

  2. Import new firmware to Fx-Editor on startup window or on project
    • Open the import wizard
      • On startup: IDE Parches / Firmware -> Import new PLC firmware

      • On project: Fidelix -> Import new PLC firmware

    • Select Linux

    • Navigate and select the downloaded .rauc-firmware file.

    • Select open

    • Tool inform the results of import, select OK.

Updating firmware to Fx-controller#

Note

This example is for FX-3000-X controller using for IMX6 firmware. Process is similar for all controllers.

Firmware versions can be used from Fx-Editor programdata on any projects. New releases have to be updated to Fx-Editor manually using “Import new PLC firmware”-feature.

Step by step guide

  1. Take connection to your device.

  2. Open the Update PLC firmware from Fidelix menu.

    • Firmware selector detects the existing firmware and propose the newest firmware from database.

    Note

    Its allowed only to update same or newer firmware to controller. Downgrade

    is not possibe.

    • Select the FW version from the list and OK.

    • Software starts to upload the FW files.

    • Select to activate the FW

    • PLC needs to be rebooted to activate the FW

    Note

    Read the Reboot informations carefully!

    select Reboot.

    • Select to activate the FW

    • PLC will reboot and connection will be restored after that.

    • Firmware is now updated, check that system is working normally.
